About

I am a London-based contemporary fine jeweller, a published medical researcher and writer, and a Registered Nurse. My life's work exists at the intersection of two seemingly different worlds: the rigorous, evidence-based world of medicine and healthcare, and the intuitive, vibrant world of artisan jewellery.

Big Energy Fine Jewellery

Sarah Jane Palmer London is the home of Big Energy Fine Jewellery, a term I coined to define a new kind of adornment where fine jewellery meets unapologetic bohemian maximalism. Each piece is entirely one of a kind, built around bold, luminous stones chosen for their presence and individuality. My work is designed to be felt as much as it is seen - jewellery that carries energy, evokes good feelings, and becomes part of the wearer's story. Rooted in craftsmanship yet driven by instinct and expression, every creation celebrates confidence, freedom, and the power of wearing something that feels entirely your own.

Jewellery Training

I gained a Distinction in my UAL accredited diploma in Jewellery Design in 2024, and that same year I started a degree at Central Saint Martin's in Jewellery Design but I was keen to start my own business, so I left the course and poured my heart and soul into designing, creating, and building a business in November 2025. I have slowly built my own studio over the last few years so I can use my creativity to its full potential whenever an idea comes to mind! I have also attended several courses at the Goldsmith's Centre, Hatton Garden.

Embracing change

My career as a writer, my degree from King's College London, and my years as a nurse have given me a profound respect for the human condition, our resilience, our stories, and our deep need for connection. I loved caring for people, but being a sensitive person in such an emotionally demanding role often led to exhaustion. Throughout that time, I felt a persistent pull toward creativity and regularly painted and exhibited my work. Discovering jewellery making in my mid-thirties felt like a turning point and a medium I was truly meant to pursue. Today, I express my care for others by creating pieces that bring joy and meaning. At the heart of my Big Energy philosophy is a desire to nurture the human spirit in a quiet, unspoken way.

Hand-Forged in London

In my North London studio, I work with a wide range of traditional and contemporary techniques, including hand fabrication, hand engraving, stone setting, casting, reticulation, and metal forging. Soldering is integral to my process, used to join components, form structures, and create functional details. I also apply advanced surface treatments such as texturing, oxidising, and high-quality polishing and finishing. My practice includes precision chain construction, resin applications for memorial jewellery, and restoration of existing pieces. Combined with skills in enamelling, wax carving, and working with precious metal clay, I focus on producing structurally refined, technically sophisticated jewellery that is entirely unique and built to last.

I invite you to come and explore all the beautiful one-of-a-kind jewels I make and I hope I can share my joy and love with you through these creations.
